Ye Old Game has long explained away certain monsters as being created by some “mad wizard”, without providing any real mechanism by which that could happen! “Rain of Fish” is the product of my long fascination with “Fortean” phenomena. Of course, in a fantasy setting that spell could actually have practical uses – such as stocking a moat or artificial pond with fish, or providing fresh food for starving people.
